It's hard to imagine a place in the Caribbean that is more imbued with such a sense of local identity than St Lucia, and this is no more evident than in the local restaurants, bars and nightclubs. The ‘Jump up’ is an outdoor street carnival held in Gros Islet every Friday night. It is within 10 minutes drive of the Villa and offers the opportunity to sample the local Creole cuisine plus boogie on down with the locals into the wee hours!

Abundant fresh seafood is given a ‘Creole kick’ by the local peppers and spices but variety really is the spice of life here and, with dozens of local eateries vying for your custom, you will be spoilt for choice. Here are just a few restaurants and bars that we particularly enjoy:

  • The Lime. A variety of well prepared dishes and reasonably priced. (758-4520761)
  • Tao. East meets west at this upmarket eatery within the grounds of the LeSport Hotel. Just 5 minutes from the Villa (758-4508851)
  • Buzz. Wonderful seafood and a fun atmosphere. (758-4580450)
  • The Charthouse. Waterside dining with good steaks. (758-4528115)
  • East Winds Inn Restaurant. Has a good cellar and particularly good for Sunday lunch. (758-4528212)
  • The Edge Restaurant. ‘Eurobbean’ fusion food, beautifully presented at the waters edge. (758-4503343)
Razmataz. Tasty Tandoori at reasonable prices. (758-4529800)
  • Spinnakers Beach Bar and Grill. Varied menu in a great atmosphere and right on Reduit beach. Happy hour is a must! (758-4528491)
  • Ku De Ta. Good eating plus a unique cocktail list. (758 4584968)
